The Summer School in Digital Human Rights is a residential, advanced, and intensive course on the application of international human rights law in the digital age. It will be taught by leading experts in the field and held in Lund, Sweden from 22 to 26 June 2026.
Program Overview
The programme is organized by the Faculty of Law and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights at the University of Lund. According to the official page, the course will examine international human rights law in the digital age and cover issues such as privacy in the digital age, freedom of expression online, businesses and human rights in the cyber context, AI regulation from a human rights perspective, AI manipulation, electoral interference, hybrid threats to democracy, and international treaties on cybercrime and their human rights implications.

The University notes that admitted students must pay their own travel expenses to and from Lund, unless they receive one of the limited travel grants. It also states that visa support is limited to providing a letter of invitation and that no other form of assistance will be offered.
Eligibility
Because this is an advanced course, applicants must have sufficient background knowledge of human rights law and public international law. Eligible applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
• Hold a master’s degree in law or a related field such as politics or international relations, or be currently enrolled in a master’s programme, with evidence of sufficient knowledge of human rights and public international law
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields, with evidence of at least 2 years of relevant work experience, such as work in legal practice, government, or a civil society organization
• Have an excellent working knowledge of English
Course Teaching Methods and Faculty
The course will include interactive seminars, group exercises, and conversations with practitioners working in the field of digital human rights. The faculty will include experts from the University of Lund as well as distinguished external experts.
Application Process
To apply, candidates must submit the following through the application form:
• A statement of interest of no more than 400 words
• A one-page CV
• An additional short statement of no more than 200 words if also applying for a travel grant
The official page states that applications exceeding these limits will be summarily rejected. It also notes that the course opens for applications on 20 March and closes on 15 April.
