Fellowship Expectations
All fellows work remotely as independent contractors.
During the fellowship, participants are expected to:
• Contribute analysis or reporting on technology and democracy at least monthly
• Attend a mandatory one-hour monthly cohort meeting
• Attend a monthly check-in with the Tech Policy Press editorial team
• Collaborate with other fellows and the Tech Policy Press masthead when appropriate
• Meet agreed deadlines for their outputs
• Disclose potential conflicts of interest

Eligibility Criteria
The fellowship is open to:
• Journalists

• Public policy professionals
Applicants should be interested in exploring the intersection of technology and democracy. They should also demonstrate an interest or background in tech policy, media, or related fields.
Candidates must be committed to producing high-quality public-interest work during the fellowship.
Tech Policy Press accepts international applicants, including candidates outside the United States who are not authorised to work in the United States. The fellowship is open to candidates from around the world.
Applicants from the Global Majority and underrepresented communities in media are encouraged to apply.
Required Application Materials
Applicants must provide:
• A curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
• A cover letter of no more than two pages explaining what they hope to accomplish
• Links to prior publications
• Two professional references
Submitted published work must be publicly accessible online and clearly attributed to the applicant.
Eligible published work can include reported pieces, policy or issue analyses, opinion articles, essays, podcasts, newsletters, and data projects.
Social media posts and unpublished materials such as class assignments or dissertations are not considered published work. Writing samples should be from within the past three years.
Applicants may submit translated work, but at least one submitted piece must be written in English.
