The Foundation for American Innovation is seeking interns to join its Artificial Intelligence Policy Team for the fall, from September through December. Interns support AI policy research while also developing an independent research project. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, and interns receive $20 per hour.

About the Artificial Intelligence Policy Team Internship
The internship supports the work of the Foundation for American Innovation’s AI team.
Interns contribute to the team’s research activities while having the opportunity to undertake an independent research project during the programme.
By the end of the internship, participants are expected to develop a publishable or shippable product based on their work.
There is some flexibility regarding internship start and end dates.
Internship Responsibilities
Interns are expected to contribute to several areas of the AI team’s work.
Responsibilities include:
• Supporting ongoing research and policy analysis
• Supporting coalition work
• Contributing to briefs, memos, and outreach materials
• Developing and pitching an original research project with the director and policy team
• Carrying the independent project through to a publishable or finished deliverable
• Assisting with team events and coalition initiatives
• Supporting external outreach
• Assisting with other team needs

Work Location and Format
FAI prefers interns to work in person at its Washington, DC office on Capitol Hill.
Temporary remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Both:
• Full-time internships
• Part-time internships

The internship runs during the fall, from September through December, with some flexibility regarding start and end dates.
Compensation and Personal Expenses
Interns are paid:
✓ $20 per hour
Housing is not provided.
Interns are responsible for:
• Their own travel arrangements
• Their own living arrangements
• Bringing their own laptop

Independent Research Project
In addition to supporting the AI team’s ongoing work, interns have the opportunity to develop their own research project.
Participants work with their director and policy team to develop and pitch an original project.
The project should then be carried through to a publishable or finished deliverable by the end of the internship.
Physical Requirements
The official posting states that interns must be able to frequently navigate multiple flights of stairs during the workday.
The FAI office is located in a multi-story facility without elevator access.
