About the SNU President Fellowship Program

The SNU President Fellowship Program is launched to provide opportunities for teaching and instructional staff members of universities in developing countries to pursue Ph.D. degrees at Seoul National University.

According to SNU, the programme is one of its most prestigious scholarship programmes. It is designed for applicants who do not already hold a Ph.D. degree and who meet the stated academic and employment requirements.

Selected recipients of the SNU President Fellowship Program receive several forms of scholarship support.

The scholarship benefits include:

✓ KRW 1,500,000~2,000,000 monthly stipend for 3~4 years

✓ Korean language training, only evening class during regular semesters
✓ National health insurance coverage
✓ Child care support

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements stated by Seoul National University.

Eligible applicants must be:

• A teaching or instructional staff member of a major university in a developing country without a Ph.D. degree.
• A holder of a master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• A newly admitted student to SNU as a Ph.D. student for the spring 2027 semester.

SNU recognizes applicants as teaching or instructional staff members if they meet at least one of the following conditions:

• The applicant is employed to teach an academic course or conduct academic research.
• The applicant is an expected master’s degree holder who has been employed for at least six months to teach an academic course or conduct academic research.

Applicants must also be able to prove that they are currently employed at a university in one of the following positions:

• Professor
• Associate Professor
• Assistant Professor
• Research Professor
• Lecturer
• Instructor
• Teaching Assistant
• Research Assistant

SNU notes that other positions or ranks may be recognized as equivalent if the applicant’s certificate shows that they qualify under the stated teaching or research conditions.
