The Rotary Peace Fellowship is a fully funded international fellowship offered by Rotary International for individuals committed to peace and development work. It aims to develop leaders who can address global peace and conflict resolution challenges.

Purpose and Overview
The program selects candidates with strong leadership potential and a dedication to peace, supporting them with advanced academic training, field experience, and global networking. It brings together future peacebuilders from around the world.

Fellowship Tracks
There are two main tracks available:

  1. Master’s Degree Program – A 15‑ to 24‑month fully funded master’s degree in peace and development‑related fields.
  2. Professional Development Certificate Program – A one‑year fully funded certificate program focused on practical peacebuilding skills.

Host Countries and Institutes
The fellowship is hosted at leading universities across multiple countries, including: Australia, England, the United States, Japan, and Sweden for the master’s program, and institutions in Thailand and Uganda for the certificate track.

Number of Awards
Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fellowships total:

  • Around 50 for master’s degree candidates
  • Around 80 for professional certificate candidates

Benefits Covered
Selected fellows receive comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Tuition fees
  • Room and board
  • Round‑trip transportation
  • Field‑study or internship expenses
  • Health insurance

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants generally must:

  • Be proficient in English.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to peace and cross‑cultural understanding.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree for the master’s program and have at least three years of relevant work experience.
  • For the certificate program, applicants typically need five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Not be currently enrolled in another academic program at the time of application.
  • Individuals who have previously completed certain Rotary programs may need to wait a period before re‑applying.
  • People with disabilities are encouraged to apply; reasonable accommodations are available.

Application Process
Candidates must apply through the Rotary Foundation’s online application system and usually are required to secure an endorsement through a Rotary district.
