The A*STAR Scholarship Portal is the official applicant system for ASTAR scholarships and awards. The portal states that its use is restricted to applications for ASTAR scholarships and awards only, and applicants can access support links for SINGA, other scholarships, and technical issues.
Overview
The portal is managed for applications connected to the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, known as A*STAR. It provides account login, SingPass login, help resources, a user guide, and portal-related support information.
Applicants can use the portal to view scholarships available for application after login. However, the official guide also states that some scholarships or awards are by nomination only. Therefore, applicants can apply for those opportunities only if they have received a nomination email.
Login Options
The portal separates login access by applicant type.
• Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents should log in using SingPass
• Applicants without SingPass can use the account login option
• Users who do not have SingPass may need to set up Multifactor Authentication
• The system records user activities, and unauthorized use is prohibited
How the Application Works
After logging in, applicants can use the “Apply Scholarships” section to view available scholarships. For scholarships that are open for application, applicants use the “Apply” hyperlink under the action column.
The selected scholarship application page opens with an instruction page. After reading the instructions, applicants click “Next” to move through the application tabs. The guide states that the page layout may change depending on the scholarship selected.
Application Form Features
The user guide explains that applicants can move between application pages using “Next” and “Previous” buttons. Mandatory fields must be completed for page information to save successfully.
Applicants may also save an application as a draft. This allows them to continue the application later if they cannot complete it in one session.
Document Upload Notes
The official FAQ gives basic document-upload requirements for the applicant portal.
• Uploaded files should be less than 3MB
• File names should be less than 260 characters
• Applicants with many publications may try saving in batches instead of saving all at once
Account and Technical Support
The portal provides support for SINGA-related queries, other scholarship-related queries, and technical issues. The FAQ also lists guidance for password recovery, account registration issues, passport number updates, wrong scholarship applications, and referee email corrections.
