About the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship
The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Overseas Candidate is intended for international students who are outside Japan and are scheduled to enroll in APU’s Graduate School.
Master’s and doctoral programme applicants are eligible to be considered. Applicants must apply to both APU and the scholarship organization independently and follow the application and selection procedures required by each organization.

Benefits and Financial Coverage
Selected scholarship recipients receive the following financial support:

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements stated by APU:
• Must not hold Japanese nationality, including dual nationality holders.
• Must obtain a student visa to enter Japan for the purpose of study.
• Must reside outside Japan until the start of the programme.
• Must not have resided in Japan for longer than 31 days in total, except under the specific circumstances stated by APU.
• Must have Japanese language proficiency at least equivalent to JLPT N4 or above.
• Must have been born after April 2, 1982.
Applicants who do not meet the first and second requirements at the time of application may still apply on the condition that they meet them by the time they arrive in Japan.

Application Process
Applicants must complete separate application procedures for APU and the scholarship organization.
• Check the scholarship eligibility requirements and apply directly to the scholarship organization around March for April enrollment or around August for September enrollment.
• Inform the scholarship organization that the Letter of Acceptance from the desired university will be issued after the scholarship application deadline.
• Indicate your intention to be considered as a Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship candidate in the APU Online Application System.
• Submit your application to APU.
• APU will issue a Letter of Acceptance to candidates selected for the scholarship after admission results are announced.
• Submit the Letter of Acceptance to the scholarship organization.
Application Deadlines
APU lists separate deadlines according to the intended enrollment period:
• September 2027 enrollment: September 15, 2026
• April 2027 enrollment: October 7, 2026
