About the FAO Global Youth Contest 2026
The contest invites participants to explain how learning with the FAO elearning Academy has shaped their journey. Applicants should demonstrate how they have applied their learning in practice.
Each participant must submit a short written story supported by verified course completion and certified digital badges obtained from the FAO elearning Academy.
The contest aims to highlight learning journeys that lead to practical impact. It also seeks to amplify young learners’ voices in the global agrifood dialogue.
Contest Objectives
The FAO Global Youth Contest 2026 focuses on the following objectives:
• Highlight stories showing how FAO elearning Academy courses lead to tangible change.
• Demonstrate how participants apply their learning in real-life contexts.
• Share experiences and lessons with young people around the world.
• Increase the visibility of youth voices and FAO elearning Academy opportunities.
• Show how young learners contribute to sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems.

Prize and Recognition
Three winners will receive:
✓ A fully funded trip to Rome
✓ Attendance at the World Food Forum from 12 to 15 October 2026
✓ Coverage of all travel and participation costs
✓ An invitation to share their stories through a video interview
✓ Visibility on the FAO elearning Academy website
✓ Visibility on the YouTube FAO Education Hub
✓ Visibility across social media channels
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be between 18 and 35 years old.
• Be from any country or region, including underrepresented or vulnerable groups.
• Be registered learners of the FAO elearning Academy.
• Demonstrate how learning has contributed to their knowledge and skills, or academic or professional development.
• Have completed FAO elearning Academy courses.
• Have obtained certified digital badges from the FAO elearning Academy.
Selected winners must hold a passport valid until at least April 2027.

Selection Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:
• Availability to participate in the global award process, including travel requirements
• Number of certified digital badges obtained
• Quality and clarity of the impact story
• Evidence showing how learning has been applied
• Verified completion of FAO elearning Academy courses
Applications from young learners belonging to underrepresented, vulnerable, or marginalized groups will be positively considered.
The use of Artificial Intelligence tools to generate application responses is strictly prohibited. Applicants who use such tools will be excluded from the contest.

Application Process
Before submitting an application, participants should:
• Create an account on the FAO elearning Academy platform.
• Explore the available learning areas.
• Complete relevant courses.
• Earn certified digital badges.
• Prepare a short impact story of no more than 4,000 characters.
To complete the application form:
• Use the same email address linked to the FAO elearning Academy account.
• Provide a complete and accurate list of earned digital badges.
• Include the impact story.
• Submit the application by 31 July 2026.
Only one application per participant is allowed.
Language Requirement
The contest is conducted exclusively in English. Only stories written in English will be considered.

Selection Process
After the application deadline:
• Applications will be reviewed by the FAO elearning Academy Evaluation Committee.
• Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
• Finalists will be selected and informed individually.
• All applicants will receive notification of the outcome.
