Selected candidates receive significant financial support, access to a scholar community, and additional advising opportunities. Nomination (often through a school or external organization) is usually required for this program.

- International Major Entrance Scholarship for Vantage One,
- Vantage One Entrance Award,
- Vantage One Excellence Award.
Some are also based on financial need.
General Eligibility
- Applicants must apply for admission to UBC by the official admission deadline to be automatically considered for most entrance scholarships.
- International students generally must hold a valid Canadian study permit (student visa) to receive awards.
Application and Timing
- No separate application is necessary for many UBC merit‑based scholarships; eligibility is determined through the standard undergraduate application process.
- Admissions offers usually start in December, with scholarship decisions typically communicated between mid‑February and late April for the upcoming academic year.
- Students must accept both their admission and any scholarship offers by UBC’s acceptance deadline (commonly May 1).
Additional Financial Support
UBC provides a wide range of awards, bursaries, and fellowships beyond the main scholarship programmes. These include:
- Awards based on academic achievement, leadership, and other merits,
- Hybrid awards that combine merit and financial need,
- Bursaries based on financial need,
