Benefits and Financial Coverage

Successful international scholarship recipients may receive:

✓ €500 per month
✓ Payments for ten months of each academic year, from September to June
✓ Up to €5,000 per academic year
✓ Up to €15,000 during the first three years of bachelor’s or combined studies
✓ Up to €10,000 during two years of master’s studies

The scholarship is paid through the higher education institution after the recipient is officially enrolled and begins the relevant study programme.

The scholarship may help cover living expenses. However, it does not automatically cover tuition fees. A public higher education institution may waive tuition fees for a foreign-language programme, but this decision belongs exclusively to the institution.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the relevant requirements for their intended study level.

General conditions include:

• Applicants must generally be citizens of a country other than Slovakia. Dual citizenship that includes Slovak citizenship and another citizenship is permitted.
• Eligible Slovaks living abroad must submit the required official certificate.
• Applicants must not have held permanent residence in Slovakia at any time from 1 January 2021 until the scholarship application date.
• Applicants must not have previously attended secondary school in Slovakia, subject to the stated exception for eligible Slovaks living abroad.
• Bachelor’s applicants must not have previously studied at a Slovak higher education institution, except through academic mobility.
• Applicants must apply or be admitted to an eligible study programme at a selected Slovak higher education institution.
• The study programme must be full-time and conducted in person.
• Applicants must submit an English-language structured CV and motivation letter.
• There is no upper age limit. Applicants under 18 must provide hand-signed approval from a legal guardian.

Bachelor’s applicants must have completed their secondary education outside Slovakia and intend to begin an eligible bachelor’s or combined programme in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Master’s-level scholarships are available to eligible applicants who:

• Completed their bachelor’s degree outside Slovakia and are entering master’s study in Slovakia for the first time
• Completed a bachelor’s degree at a Slovak higher education institution and continue directly to the master’s level without previous RRP support
• Received support through the previous Recovery and Resilience Plan scholarship scheme and continue directly to the master’s level

Required Documents

Applicants must attach the relevant documents to their online application:

• Certified copy of a valid passport or identity document
• Hand-signed solemn declaration concerning permanent residence
• Certificate for a Slovak living abroad, when applicable
• Legal guardian’s consent for applicants under 18
• Valid SAT or SCIO test-results certificate
• Acceptance letter from a Slovak higher education institution, if available
• Structured curriculum vitae
• Motivation letter

Templates for the CV, motivation letter, declarations, and guardian consent are provided during the application process where applicable.

Successful recipients may later be required to present the original documents to the higher education institution where they enrol.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on the applicant’s result from one accepted standardised testing route:

• SAT: minimum total score of 1100 points
• SCIO: minimum average percentile of 63 across Mathematics and General Academic Prerequisites tests

Applicants may submit results from only one of these testing routes in a single application.

SAT results obtained from 1 January 2021 until the application deadline may be accepted. SCIO applicants must provide an official certificate issued by SCIO.

The standardised test is mandatory. It cannot be replaced by another assessment or waived. Applicants who do not reach the minimum score will not be considered.

Application Process

Applicants must complete two separate processes: admission to a Slovak higher education institution and the scholarship application.

• Select an eligible full-time study programme at a participating Slovak higher education institution.
• Apply separately to the chosen higher education institution.
• Register through the official scholarship portal.
• Complete the electronic scholarship application.
• Upload all required documents, declarations, and SAT or SCIO results.
• Submit the complete application before the deadline.

Scholarship applications are accepted exclusively through the online portal. Applications cannot be submitted by email.

Receiving the scholarship does not constitute admission or enrolment at a university. A successful applicant must be officially enrolled and begin the selected study programme before scholarship payments can be made.
