About the Marshall Scholarship 2027 Application

How to Submit an Application
Candidates are responsible for completing the online application form and submitting it through the system to their undergraduate institution.
The undergraduate institution then reviews the application and decides whether to endorse it. If endorsed, the institution adds an endorsement letter and submits the application to the appropriate regional committee.
Candidates are advised to contact their undergraduate institution as soon as possible when considering an application. Institutions may also set internal deadlines earlier than the official Marshall Scholarship deadlines.

Application Rules
Candidates must follow several rules when completing the 2027 Marshall Scholarship application.
• Candidates may apply in only one region.
• The selected region may be based on permanent home address, ordinary residence or employment, or place of study.
• Applying in more than one region results in automatic disqualification.
• Candidates may apply for either the one-year or the two-year Scholarship, but not both.
• Applications must be submitted through the official online form.
Applications must be endorsed by the President, Provost, or Academic Dean of the applicant’s US undergraduate institution. A designated staff member at the institution must authorise and submit the application online.
The official page also states that no endorsing institution may submit more than 24 applications overall. There is no cap on applications submitted to an individual region.
Application Deadlines
All applicants must complete and submit their applications, including recommendation letters, by:
• 29 September 2026 at 5:00pm in the time zone of the endorsing institution.
After this deadline, the application is processed by the endorsing institution. Candidates cannot make changes to the application after this date.
The final application package, including three recommendation letters and the institutional endorsement letter, must be submitted online by the endorsing institution by:
• 1 October 2026 at 5:00pm in the time zone of the endorsing institution.

Selection Process
Applications are reviewed through eight regional centres in the United States.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to be notified about interviews by early to mid-November. Final selections are announced shortly after the interviews.
Selected candidates receive written notification and are asked to accept or decline the scholarship offer in writing within five days of receiving the offer.
All awards remain subject to the selected candidate receiving an offer to study at a UK university.
