About the Fulbright Transatlantic Diplomacy Program
The Fulbright Transatlantic Diplomacy Program allows selected students to continue their Master of Public Policy studies within the regular study period while gaining international experience in the United States.
Participants complete one or two academic terms abroad. The programme also provides access to leadership development, professional training, and the worldwide Fulbright Network.
Study Duration and Internship Option
The study period in the United States lasts between four and nine months.
Participants may spend:
• One academic term in the United States
• Two academic terms in the United States
• A maximum of two months on an internship as part of the programme
It may also be possible to complete the mandatory MPP internship in the United States after the study period.

Fulbright Germany Funding
Fulbright Germany provides:
✓ No U.S. tuition fees for programme participants
✓ USD 13,800 for a four-month stay or up to USD 31,000 for a nine-month stay
✓ Funding for living costs and applicable enrollment-related fees
✓ A J-1 visa issued free of charge
✓ Participation in Fulbright health coverage through ASPE, subject to acceptance by the host university
✓ Access to the worldwide Fulbright Network
✓ An accompanying programme with training sessions and contacts to transatlantic organisations and stakeholders
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• Be German citizens.
• Have already been admitted to the Master of Public Policy programme.
• Apply before starting the MPP programme.
Students who begin their MPP studies in October 2026 and plan to study abroad in fall 2027 must apply by 31 August 2026.
