About the Claude Corps Fellowship 2026

Claude Corps is a 12-month fellowship that places early-career AI-skilled talent inside mission-driven nonprofits. Fellows work full-time on projects that help host organizations use Claude in their work.

The programme is run by three organizations. Anthropic funds the programme, leads overall strategy, and provides Claude expertise. CodePath recruits, trains, and employs fellows as the employer of record. Social Finance administers philanthropic capital and leads measurement and evaluation.

Cohort 1 will place approximately 100 fellows at host organizations across the United States starting in October 2026. The full programme will place 1,000 fellows across three cohorts, with later cohorts beginning in January 2027 and August 2027.

What Fellows Will Do

Fellows are full-time CodePath employees. They work on site at their host organization and report to a dedicated manager.

Fellows work on projects that help organizations use Claude across their missions. These areas may include:

• Workforce development
• Public health
• Housing
• Food security
• Veterans services
• Education

The fellowship begins with intensive training. After that, fellows complete about five hours of structured training each week, while the rest of their time is focused on project work.

Eligibility Criteria

Claude Corps is open to early-career applicants who meet the stated requirements.

Applicants must:

• Be 18 or older.
• Have under two years of full-time work experience.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Already use AI tools in day-to-day life or work.
• Have taken concrete action on a cause, community, or problem they care about.
• Be willing to relocate to the host organization if needed.

There is no minimum education requirement. Applicants do not need a college degree. The official page also states that no formal AI training or coding background is required.

Current students can apply if they are available to work full-time starting October 19, 2026, and have under two years of prior full-time work experience.

AI and Technical Background

Applicants do not need formal AI training or coding experience. However, they should already be using AI tools in their daily life or work.

The official page states that fellows should be able to:

• Use Claude or a similar AI tool to research, summarize, or work through questions.
• Draft, revise, and improve written work with AI assistance.
• Ask AI for help understanding or working with code, even without a coding background.
• Judge when an AI response needs verification or a follow-up question.
• Adjust prompts when a first attempt does not give the needed result.

Every fellow completes a Claude-focused training programme before placement.

Work Authorization and Relocation

Fellows must already hold United States work authorization that does not depend on employer sponsorship or support. The authorization must remain valid for the full 12-month fellowship.

The official page states that the programme does not offer visa sponsorship. Authorization tied to student visa status, including F-1 OPT and STEM OPT, does not qualify. Statuses requiring employer involvement, such as TN and H1-B1, also do not qualify.

Cohort 1 placements are in person. Fellows should be ready to relocate if the right match is outside their current location. Relocation funding is available when placement is outside the fellow’s current location.

Selection Process

The application and selection process begins with one application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

The application includes:

• A short form about the applicant
• Two Anthropic courses on AI fluency and Claude
• Two short-answer questions

Applicants who move forward complete a take-home assessment, a 25-minute conversation with the team, and a final round of two interviews. Anthropic and CodePath employees conduct the conversations and interviews.

If selected, fellows interview with two to three host organizations. The matching process considers projects, skills, interests, geographic proximity, and mutual fit.

What Happens After the Fellowship

Claude Corps is designed as a career on-ramp. Fellows leave with applied AI experience, a portfolio of shipped work inside a mission-driven organization, and a CodePath reference.

The official page states that the role does not automatically convert to a permanent CodePath position. However, fellows may apply to open roles through the normal process, and CodePath supports each fellow’s transition at the end of the year.
