About the Brandtech Group AI for Good Scholarship
The Brandtech Group and One Young World launched the 2026 scholarship to identify and elevate five young African leaders. Applicants must demonstrate how they use AI sustainably and responsibly through initiatives with proven impact.
The scholarship focuses on young people developing AI-based responses to political, economic, social, environmental or health challenges. Selected scholars will participate in the One Young World Summit and join development and networking opportunities connected to the programme.
Priority Impact Areas
Applicants should lead initiatives aligned with one or more of the scholarship’s five pillars:
• Using AI to promote sustainability and address climate change
• Using AI to improve education access, learning systems and productivity
• Using AI to combat misinformation, online hate and social harm
• Using AI to promote social equity
• Using AI to improve healthcare access, reduce health inequality and support mental well-being
• Using AI to strengthen active citizen engagement
Applications may still be considered when an initiative does not fit one pillar exactly, provided it uses AI positively and responsibly to advance the applicant’s work.

Selected Brandtech Group AI for Good Scholars will receive:

The Action Accelerator and mentor sessions are intended to help scholars develop their ideas after the Summit. The Global Kickstart programme provides additional leadership development and learning connected to the Summit’s main themes.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Be aged 18–30 at the time of the One Young World Summit 2026
• Be a national and resident of an African country
• Have demonstrated AI solutions in Africa
• Demonstrate leadership capacity
• Promote the responsible use of AI
• Have a record of creating impactful and innovative AI-based solutions
• Understand important local and/or global issues
• Be willing to engage with other scholarship recipients
• Be willing to engage with Brandtech Group staff and management attending the Summit
One Young World cannot accept applicants who will be under 18 at the time of the Summit. Candidates older than 30 may be considered when they demonstrate suitable personal impact, initiative and willingness to participate.

What Applicants Should Demonstrate
The scholarship is intended for applicants with an established record of using AI to create positive change.
A strong applicant should demonstrate:
• A clear and responsible use of artificial intelligence
• Evidence that their initiative has created impact
• An innovative approach to a recognised challenge
• Leadership within their project or wider community
• A connection between their work and at least one scholarship pillar
• Willingness to participate actively in the Summit and scholarship community
The application should clearly explain the applicant’s work, its results and how AI contributes to the solution.
Application and Longlisting Process
Candidates must submit their application through the official One Young World scholarship portal.
Applicants should:
• Confirm that they meet the age, nationality and residency requirements
• Explain their AI-based initiative and its impact
• Show how their work promotes the sustainable and responsible use of AI
• Connect the initiative to the relevant scholarship pillars
• Complete all required sections of the online application
• Submit the application before 2 August 2026
Candidates who are longlisted may be invited to provide additional documentation. This may include references and a video pitch as part of the assessment process.

One Young World Summit Participation
Selected scholars will attend the One Young World Summit in Cape Town from 3–6 November 2026.
The scholarship includes access to the Summit and practical support for attendance. Scholars will also have opportunities to engage with other scholarship recipients, Brandtech Group representatives and the wider One Young World community.
After the Summit, recipients will retain access to the One Young World Ambassador Community and the Brandtech AI for Good Alumni network. They will also receive access to programmes designed to strengthen leadership skills and support continued action.
