
GCUB-Mob Scholarships 2026 for Graduate Study in Brazil
The GCUB-Mob Scholarships 2026 offer international students the opportunity to pursue master’s or doctoral studies at Brazilian higher education institutions. This fifth edition includes 539 master’s scholarships and 350 doctoral scholarships offered by 62 Brazilian universities associated with GCUB. The academic programmes are scheduled to begin in 2027.

About the GCUB-Mob Scholarships 2026
The GCUB International Mobility Program is promoted by the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB). It receives support from the Guimarães Rosa Institute of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Organization of American States, the National Council of State Research Funding Agencies, the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie.
The programme is intended for international students from the five continents who are interested in completing master’s or doctoral degrees in Brazil. Candidates must select their preferred academic programmes during the online application process.
Study Duration
The maximum study period depends on the selected degree level:
• Master’s programmes may last up to 24 months.
• Doctoral programmes may last up to 48 months.
The exact start date follows the academic calendar of each host institution.
Scholarship Benefits
During the regular academic enrolment period, selected candidates receive the following support:
✓ Exemption from academic fees related to the selected programme
✓ Monthly stipends throughout the regular study period
✓ Access to university restaurants, where available, under the same conditions as other students
✓ Access to classes, study rooms, libraries, laboratories, and other university services under the same conditions as other students
For master’s students, monthly stipends may be provided for up to 24 months. Doctoral students may receive monthly stipends for up to 48 months. The host institution is responsible for the payments.
Costs Covered by Selected Candidates
Applicants must have the financial capacity to cover expenses that are not included in the scholarship support. These may include:
• Airfare
• Visa issuance
• International health insurance for the full study period
• Personal expenses
• Living expenses before the first monthly stipend is paid
• Document legalization
• Additional university-related costs, such as certificate issuance
• Other expenses not expressly covered by the call for applications
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be a citizen of a country that maintains diplomatic relations with Brazil.
• Not hold Brazilian nationality.
• Declare good physical and mental health for graduate studies.
• Have the financial capacity to cover additional expenses before receiving the scholarship.
• Indicate the chosen degree level in the application.
• Submit an undergraduate diploma, regardless of the selected degree level.
• Follow the language requirements of the graduate programmes selected in the application.
Doctoral candidates must check whether their chosen programme requires a master’s degree. Failure to meet a programme-specific requirement may result in disqualification.
Applications may be submitted in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French.
Required Documents
Candidates must upload their documents in PDF format through the online application form. The required documents include:
• A copy of an identity document, passport, or national identity document
• A Curriculum Vitae
• An undergraduate diploma, completion certificate, or official document confirming completion status and the expected graduation date
• A master’s diploma or completion certificate for doctoral applicants, where required by the selected programme
• Proof of affiliation with a higher education institution for professors
For each selected programme, applicants must also submit two texts:
• A text describing academic expectations, interests, and professional perspectives for returning to the country of origin, with a maximum of 1,000 words
• A research proposal with a maximum of 4,000 words
How to Apply
Applications are free of charge and must be submitted exclusively through the official online application form.
Each candidate may apply to up to four master’s or doctoral programmes at different higher education institutions. Candidates should preferably select institutions from different regions of Brazil.
Applicants must submit only one application. If the same candidate submits more than one application, all submissions will be deleted and the candidate will be disqualified.
Selection Process
The evaluation process consists of three eliminatory phases:
• Analysis of Document Consistency: 13–31 July 2026
• Analysis of Merit and Eligibility: 10 August–8 September 2026
• Final Classification: 13–16 October 2026
Brazilian higher education institutions will confirm selected candidates between 26 and 30 October 2026. GCUB will publish the final results on 9 November 2026.
